2017 Green Council Awards

10/24/2017: Rockland Business Association (RBA) held the 2017 Green Council Awards on October 19th, honoring a few companies who have been outstanding in various categories of green efforts. As chairperson of the Green Council, Michael has been a great influence on the increasing green efforts by Rockland’s businesses. Al Samuels, president and CEO of RBA stated, “he [Michael] deserves all the gratitude we can give… we appreciate what you’ve done”; the Green Council’s goal is to educate, promote and advocate the benefits of being green. And the businesses highlighted at this event are ones which have excelled in reflecting this goal.

The four awards were Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Waste Reduction, and Green Manufacturing, each depicted with original works of art. The winners of each are:

  • Energy Efficiency, sponsored by Orange & Rockland Utilities: Sterling National Bank.
  • Water Conservation, sponsored by SUEZ: Rockland Farm Alliance.
  • Waste Reduction, sponsored by Sunrise Solar LLC: Aptar Congers.
  • Green Manufacturing, sponsored by Instrumental Laboratories: Cambridge Security Seals.

Michael Shilale was proud to be a host and hand out the awards to each of these deserving businesses. Implementing green efforts can sometimes be difficult, but judging by the statements of each of the winners, this is only the beginning for them and they hope to continue, improve and expand the actions they are already taking towards being green.
