2026 Sustainable Building Class | AI, Energy, Real Estate

As electricity demand rises and conversations around AI, data centers, and energy infrastructure continue to grow, real estate professionals are being asked bigger questions by buyers, sellers, and investors. Michael Shilale, AIA, LEED, CPHC, has updated his course, “Sustainable Housing, Building Green and Commercial Real Estate Impacts,” to help answer them.

Offered as a 2.5-hour Zoom class, the updated program gives agents and industry professionals a clearer understanding of how sustainable design, energy performance, and building strategy are affecting both residential and commercial real estate in 2026.

This is a class and conversation focused on what people in real estate can use now. It connects rising energy costs to everyday decisions, highlights why efficient and well-performing buildings are standing out, and explains where sustainability is translating into real value across the market.

Thursday, April 23rd 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm via Zoom

Visit the class page for details and registration. Upcoming sessions are expected to fill quickly.

New topics in the 2026 curriculum include:

• how growing electricity demand is influencing utility costs and increasing interest in high-performing homes and buildings
• what carbon-free power goals, grid strain, and regional growth patterns may mean for development and investment
• how sustainability continues to affect saleability, leasing potential, and long-term asset value
• how innovation in green materials is changing the way buildings are designed, evaluated, and delivered

“Today’s real estate professionals need to be able to connect the dots between energy, design, cost, and value,” said Shilale. “This class is meant to make those connections clearer, so agents can have more informed conversations and better support their clients.”

Designed for professionals across real estate, construction, and development, the class includes practical examples, market context, and takeaways participants can apply right away.
